    Gillan Taddune

    Chief Executive Officer

    Gillan is committed to the idea that smart water technology is the key to solving critical natural resource challenges. Throughout her career, she has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. Driven by her belief that water scarcity is a pressing global challenge. So, she joined Banyan Water to help advance sustainable water solutions as a critical part of the solution.

    Before joining Banyan Water, Gillan held executive positions at several mission-driven technology companies. This includes, Recyclebank— ranked #1 on the Wall Street Journal’s list of top venture-backed cleantech companies. At EnerNOC, she helped large enterprises lower energy consumption and environmental impact. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in Green Mountain Energy’s rapid expansion and successful sale.

    Gillan previously served as Chief Economist for the Public Utility Commission of Texas. In that role, she developed the Texas Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard. As a result, this led to the installation of over 9,000 MW of new wind capacity. For this achievement, she received awards from the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association (TREIA).

    Currently, she sits on the Austin Technology Incubator’s Water Advisory Board where she advises start-ups in the water conservation field. In addition, Gillan has served as a member of the board of directors of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and the TREIA. Gillan holds an M.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from the University of Vermont, and is the recent recipient of the ESG Sustainability Award.

    Jed Smith

    Board Director

    Jed Smith is a Managing Director of Catamount Ventures. Catamount, rooted in the creative process of company building, serves the gap in the market between angel investors and large venture funds.

    Jed’s extensive experience in company building includes founding drugstore.com (NASDAQ: DSCM), and co-founding Cybersmith, a retail store chain that showcased advances in information technology and multimedia software.

    Before that, Jed was Vice President of Sales at Tribe Computer Works, a networking hardware and software company that was successfully sold. He began his career in technology working under Tom Siebel and later Marc Benioff at Oracle Corporation, eventually becoming District Manager for the Eastern Region.

    Jed currently serves on the boards of companies such as Linden Lab, Seventh Generation, Siterra, Flock, Ecohaus, Nest Collective, and Revolution Foods. Additionally, he has served on the boards of educational and non-profit institutions, including Middlebury College, the Monterey Institute for International Studies, Shackelton Schools, and the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. He holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

    Jeffrey Schutz

    Jeffrey Schutz is currently a managing director of Centennial Ventures, a Denver-based venture capital firm. Since joining Centennial in 1987, he has developed an impressive record of overseeing durable growth.

    Jeffrey has been directly involved with financing more than one hundred investments and helping entrepreneurs build valuable, sustainable businesses.

    He serves on the boards of several private and public companies, including Centennial Ventures, CenterStone Technologies, Inc., Siterra Corp., and Accellos, Inc. Additionally, he is a Trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C., and sits on the board of the Coastal Conservation League. He holds a BA in Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.

    John Hamel

    Board Director

    John Hamel is a General Partner at Cue Ball, a Boston-based venture and growth equity firm focused on recurring revenue platforms in business information services, digital media, and specialty consumer opportunities.

    Before co-founding Cue Ball, John served as Director of Business Intelligence at AnswerThink. In this role, he became a trusted advisor to global enterprises like Verizon and GE, as well as multi-unit chains such as the Hard Rock Café.

    He also founded and served as president of The Hamel Group, a real estate development firm, and co-founded MiniLuxe with the goal of revolutionizing the nail salon industry, similar to the “Starbucks” model.

    Currently, John sits on the boards of JW Player, Lex Machina, Epic Burger, and Banyan Water, and acting board observer for MiniLuxe, ShapeUp, and Rentlytics. Additionally, he is the chairman of the non-profit International Sand Sculpting Festival. A non-profit which draws over 800,000 visitors each summer to Revere Beach.

    Mario Romero (51) is the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board at Grupo Rotoplas (ticker: AGUA). Throughout his career, he has been widely recognized for his innovative approach and strong execution skills.

    Notably, he has led a variety of impactful projects, including a transformation program, strategy design and delivery, several cross-border M&A transactions, Rotoplas’ initial public offering, and the issuance of the first Latin-American Sustainability Bond.

    He is a strong advocate for sustainable investments and serves on several advisory councils and boards. This includes CCFC (Consejo Consultivo de Finanzas Climaticas, Mexico), LAGREEN (Latin American Green Bond Fund, Germany), Banyan Water (Austin, TX), B37 (technology VC fund, Silicon Valley), Narval Investments (food, water & wellness PE fund, Mexico), and HJB (chemical business, Mexico). He is also actively involved with Funed, a non-profit organization providing financial support to Mexican students pursuing graduate studies abroad.

    Mario has received multiple accolades from Institutional Investor, including recognition as the best CFO and for excellence in ESG metrics. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) and a graduate certificate in Business Administration from Harvard University. In his free time, Mario enjoys traveling with his family, running, yoga, wine, and meditation.
